Oh Lord!

(Betty Bonifassi lead: am I influenced by the power of her voice? Oooh yes)
When you have immersed yourself in a crowd of people all just taken away it's really quite incredible. Fuckin' amazing as the queen might say. C'est incroyable.

Oh I know where it's going.....

ROSE ROYCE Love Don't Live Here Anymore

YouTube - ROSE ROYCE Love Don't Live Here Anymore

This song has been covered many times (including by a very young Kate Ceberano as well as a pretty lame version by Madonna) but this is, in my opinion, still the best version.

The lead singer is the mysterious Rose Norwalt. Although I've googled about, I can find no information about her.

Renee Geyer

Renee Geyer is a bluesy goddess. She's damn hot but unfortunately never gained the kind of international recognition achieved by other aussie women such as Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy or, of course, Kylie Minogue.

Skyhooks are a big part of growing up in the 70s in Australia. Quirky and cynical they captured the post 60s mood but also wrote snarky songs about life in the suburbs of Melbourne rather than mythic far away places like New York or New Orleans.

VALENTINES Build Me Up Buttercup

YouTube - VALENTINES Aussie bubblegum Bon Scott AC/DCWhat Bon Scott was doing 7 years earlier, one of the two lead singers of the soul-turned-bubblegum pop Perth band, The Valentines.

Scott is shown here standing behind and to the right of singer Vince Lovegrove. To get a sense of the times, the show was called "Turning On" with "Baby John" Burgess LOL (now bettere known as a quiz-show host).

AC/DC - Please don't go

YouTube - AC/DC
An early recollection from my childhood, AD/DC before they became an international brand.

The original AC/DC line up filmed in Melbourne 1976 fronted by Bon Scott dressed in a schoolgirl outfit with pigtails in contrast to Angus Young's trademark school uniform. The outfits were a late echo of the Glam Rock period which had just passed. Angus was 21 when this was filmed but claimed to be just 17.
